If anyone had asked you in December about your 2020 visions, I'm sure discord, pandemic, and quarantine would not have been the words you'd use to describe your vision. When we look forward, we want to see good; not evil-- reward; not ruin-- and Liam Moore's new album, Visions of a Perfect Life, is a reminder that this year to shall pass. And we will back to a normal world where we can once again imagine a "perfect" life.
The singer songwriter's new album is set to be released on August 28th, 2020. The album's first single, Cosmic Noon, is a is a relaxing and melodic journey "across the universe" as Moore describes his "visions" of a "perfect life" that he'd leave all behind for that perfect girl. The instrumentation, melodies, and especially lyrics are a treasure to experience in audible form. I found it a real pleasure to be able to review "Visions of a Perfect Life".
Liam awkwardly straddled the line between “classical music” and “everything else” for years, unable to reconcile his affinity for writing both. Visions of a Perfect Life serves as a reminder for him and the rest of us that all music has always been everything else.
Moore released his first album in 2010. In the decade since its release, he's focused mostly on writing “classical” music for choirs and chamber ensembles. That time and experience heavily influence the sound and instrumentation of his sophomore project, "Visions of a Perfect Life".
One of my favorite songs on the album is (You Don't Have to) Grow Up, a slowly building lullaby. Liam's voice control, the melodic chorus, and the all so true lyrics, make this song a joy to listen to...
"Why do I hold my breath?
I still got ten rides on my bus pass left"
