There are reports that rapper Kanye West and girlfriend and reality star Kim Kardashian are collaborating on a shoe line.
According to Radar Online, the couple had a meeting with Francois-Henri Pinault, CEO of PPR, which owns brands like Alexander McQueen, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Kimye was said to have discussed the possibility of starting up a high-end shoe collection with the CEO's backing.
Mr. West has previously collaborated with a number of designers on shoes including the Nike "Air Yeezy" and Louis Vuitton "Kanye West Jaspers." He also created the
shoes for Dion Lee's Resort 2013 collectionand also worked on a ridiculously priced pair of pearl heels for his own fashion label, DW with famed footwear designer
Guiseppe Zanotti. And Kim Kardashian, along with her sisters have a chain of clothing stores called Dash and a clothing Line exclusively at Sears. So the
idea of a West/Kardashian shoe line is, by no surprise, already getting experts
excited and causing a stir in the fashion industry. "The potential
is huge," Howard Bragman, longtime Hollywood publicist and vice
chairman of Reputation.com, told WWD.
"They are both brand names that have separately sold millions of
dollars worth of product. Kim knows the shoe [industry] and it makes
a lot of sense. This could be a case of one plus one equals three."
